March 24, 2021 Feast of St. Gabriel the Archangel
(Readings: Lev. 19, 1-2. 11-19. 25. John 10, 22-38)
Reflection:
Oh how we ask for help, but we do accept it when it comes or do we too ask ” is this the Christ ” as to say is this help sent from God.
“[21] Others said: These are not the words of one that hath a devil: Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?”
[John 10:21]
Oh how we ask to help and serve God, yet when we are told what would please Him we still choose to do what we would like to do, thus choosing to do the good works and not seeing the Word which makes us sons of God when we hear His and do it.
“[28] But he said: Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God, and keep it.”
[Luke 11:28]
We first choose to think of the devil’s power before we see the goodness of God as true power, for the devil is only used for us to make an act of faith to believe God’s goodness in standing firm to act in all that is good.
May we look towards St. Gabriel, Mary, and Joseph which heard the word and took not doubt but made haste to do what the Lord asked as it was delivered by the messenger of God.
“[19] And the angel answering, said to him: I am Gabriel, who stand before God: and am sent to speak to thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.”
[Luke 1:19]
May we not doubt like Zachary and be made dumb for our unbelief in the greatness and Almighty power of God above our own reasoning.
“[22] And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they understood that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he made signs to them, and remained dumb.”
[Luke 1:22]
