Monday of Holy Week ( Isa 50, 5-10 / John 12 1-9)
Reflection
Sleep is a prefigurement to the eternal rest we await.
The ointment is the sweet smell of Heaven that draws us out of sleep to newness of life.
When we rest we are strengthened in body, yet when we anoint all our actions in life we rest in eternity with Christ and are covered in the sweet smell of Christ’s burial and resurrection of new life.
The world knows not the cost or value of Love. Nor does it know how to value those acts of justice of returning all of our actions for the favor of God. It deceives many to think the work of the hands and feet in praise to God is wasteful when there is no temporal reward.
“[20] But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal.”
[Matthew 6:20]
Yet do not miss the true gift of which is shown in the risen life and fruits of the labor of Love, just as Lazarus sat at the table as a witness to the coming fruit of Christ’s love for us all, eternal life and rest, the treasure of Heaven.

All for the glory of God, to remain sheltered by His grace.
